"According to Trump's National Security Advisor, 'China is the Greatest Threat'"

Forex - Mike Waltz, the National Security Advisor chosen by Donald Trump, the 47th President of the United States, stated that the U.S. needs to work to end conflicts in Europe and the Middle East in order to face the "greater threat" from China, signaling that relations among superpowers may further deteriorate in the coming years.

In an article published in The Economist just days before the November 5 elections, Waltz, along with former Pentagon strategist Matthew Kroenig, wrote that China is America's "largest rival."

In the article, Waltz and Kroenig expressed, "The next president must urgently act to bring conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East to a swift resolution and finally focus strategic attention where it needs to be: countering the greater threat from the Communist Party."

Furthermore, they noted, "America is not building armed forces to deter a Chinese attack on Taiwan. By cutting defense spending in real terms, it has allowed the balance of power to shift in favor of China. A new administration should increase defense spending and ensure that its armed forces have the capacity to clearly deter a Chinese attack on Taiwan by revitalizing the defense industrial base."
