Foreign Investors Turned to Selling Again in Borsa Istanbul in October
Foreign investors on Borsa Istanbul recorded a net sale of 639 million dollars in October. This sales figure emerged as the net difference between the total purchases of 19 billion 878.6 million dollars and total sales of 20 billion 517.6 million dollars conducted by foreigners in October 2024.
With these sales in October, when the total transactions carried out by foreign investors from the beginning of 2024 to date are calculated, it is observed that they have conducted purchases amounting to 256 billion 866.4 million dollars and sales amounting to 260 billion 1 million dollars. This data indicates a net sale of 3 billion 134.6 million dollars by foreign investors since the beginning of the year.
Following a partial positive inflow in September, foreigners resumed selling. Considering transactions since the beginning of the year, a net purchase of 237.5 million dollars was made in January, while there were noteworthy net differences of 220.1 million dollars and 64.1 million dollars in February and March, respectively. It appears that net sales began in April and May. When examining transactions up to October, it was recorded that the highest net sale occurred in June at 1 billion 23.1 million dollars.
This net sales position in October came after partial net purchases of 45,806 dollars in September. The current trend is regarded as a reflection of the economic behaviors and market trends exhibited by foreign investors throughout 2024 on Borsa Istanbul. This selling trend also stands out as one of the pressure factors on the stock market.
