Fed/Collins: Economic Uncertainty Limits Guidance the Fed Can Provide
Boston Fed President Susan Collins stated that uncertainty regarding the economic outlook limits the guidance that can be provided on the direction of monetary policy. Collins mentioned that when it comes to monetary policy, “we are well positioned,” and given the unpredictability of the short-term economic outlook, “this is really not a time for clear forward guidance.” She reiterated that the Fed’s decisions at the policy meeting in December will be guided by the data.
