Germany's Green Party Nominates Economy Minister Habeck as Chancellor Candidate

Forex - Germany's Vice Chancellor and Minister of Economics, Robert Habeck, was officially nominated as the Green Party's candidate for Chancellor on Sunday. The 55-year-old politician received overwhelming support at the party's conference in Wiesbaden, securing 741 out of 768 votes, or 96.48%. Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock also backed Habeck's potential to succeed Chancellor Olaf Scholz, emphasizing that "no one can steer the ship in a storm like Robert Habeck and adjust the sails properly when the wind is favorable." The nomination follows the announcement of early elections scheduled to take place in Germany next February.
